U11C Wizards Crowned City Champions

Sometimes, a championship is about more than a gold medal.

Sometimes, it's about believing until the very last whistle.

On Tuesday night, our U11C Wizards delivered a performance that will be remembered for years to come, capturing the City Championship in dramatic fashion and giving the North Edmonton Wizards Lacrosse Club a moment to celebrate together.

After an extraordinary regular season, finishing with a perfect 12-0 record, the Wizards entered the championship game with high expectations. But championships are never easy.

Heading into the third period, the Wizards found themselves trailing. Time was running out, and despite an incredible season, the championship seemed to be slipping away.

But this team refused to quit.

Going into the third period, the Wizards battled back to score the tying goal, igniting the crowd inside Glengarry Arena. The energy in the building shifted instantly as teammates, coaches, families, and supporters believed once again.

Then, with less than two minutes left on the clock, it happened.

The Wizards found the back of the net for the go-ahead goal.

The arena erupted.

Players leaped off the bench. Coaches celebrated. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and teammates filled the stands with cheers that echoed throughout the arena. It was one of those moments that reminds us why we love sport—not just for the wins, but for the unforgettable memories created along the way.

A Championship Years in the Making

For our club, this victory means so much more than a banner (though the banner is great!).

It's been many years since the North Edmonton Wizards celebrated a City Championship, making this accomplishment even more meaningful. It reflects the dedication of countless volunteers, coaches, families, and players who have continued to invest in building a stronger club and creating opportunities for young athletes to succeed.

This championship belongs to everyone who has believed in the Wizards.

More Than Great Players

While the scoreboard will always show a championship victory, what we're most proud of is the character this team displayed all season.

They learned how to trust one another.

They learned resilience.

They learned that teamwork, determination, and effort can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Those are lessons that will stay with them long after this season ends.

Watching these young athletes celebrate with pure joy after the final buzzer was something none of us will soon forget. These are memories they'll carry for years to come, and we can't wait to watch them continue to grow through the Wizards program.

Thank You to Our Incredible Community

Championships are never won by players alone.

To our head coaches and assistant coaches: Thank you for the countless hours spent planning practices, teaching skills, encouraging every player, and believing in this team from day one.

To our team managers and volunteers: Thank you for everything you do behind the scenes to make each season possible.

To our parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, and extended families: Thank you for every ride to the rink, every early morning, every cheer from the stands, every word of encouragement, and every moment spent supporting these young athletes. Your dedication creates the environment where our players can thrive.

This championship is a celebration of our entire Wizards family.

The Future is Bright

As exciting as this championship is, perhaps the most exciting part is knowing what lies ahead.

These U11 players represent the future of the North Edmonton Wizards. Their passion, determination, sportsmanship, and love for the game are exactly what our club is built upon. We are incredibly proud of what they've accomplished and can't wait to watch them continue their lacrosse journey in the years ahead.

Congratulations to our U11C City Champions!

Thank you for giving our club a night we'll never forget.

Go Wizards! 🥍
