Wizards Lacrosse Club - Mission Statement

The Wizards Lacrosse Club (WLC) is a registered non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to the growth, development, and sustainability of lacrosse in Edmonton and the surrounding communities of Northern Alberta. As stewards of Canada’s national summer sport, our purpose is to ensure that all youth—regardless of background or ability—have the opportunity to participate in a safe, structured, and supportive environment that fosters skill development, confidence, and a lifelong passion for the game.

Our mission is to promote and advance the sport of lacrosse by delivering accessible, high-quality programming that emphasizes player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We believe that participation in sport provides valuable life skills, such as resilience, discipline, and leadership, that extend beyond the playing surface. By embedding these principles into our programs, we aim to contribute not only to the athletic success of our players but also to their personal growth and community engagement.

The WLC is committed to a holistic approach that balances athletic excellence with inclusivity. We strive to create pathways for players at every stage—from first-time participants discovering the sport to competitive athletes pursuing opportunities at higher levels. Organizational Goals

The WLC is guided by the following strategic objectives:

• Accessibility and Growth: Expand the presence of lacrosse in Northern Alberta by increasing participation opportunities, removing barriers to entry, and promoting awareness of the sport through community outreach and school partnerships.

• Excellence in Coaching and Development: Provide well-structured training programs and certification opportunities for coaches and volunteers, ensuring that athletes receive instruction that is both technically sound and developmentally appropriate.

• Culture of Sportsmanship and Respect: Instill values of integrity, discipline, and respect in all participants, fostering a culture that emphasizes teamwork, fair play, and accountability.
