U13

(formerly U12 or Peewee)

Under 13 - Ages 11 & 12

The U13 season is set up as follows:

🔸U13 has teams for both men and women, or co-ed (dependent on registrations)
🔸U13 teams play with 12-20 players per team
🔸U13 teams play player positions, such a goalies
🔸U13 player evaluations start in January
🔸U13 can have one friend request (please email the Registrar)
🔸U13 teams have 1-2 practices per week for 1 hour, typically Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs
🔸U13 practices and plays the whole field, so floor times are more competitive
🔸U13 players require full gear

U13 is played with levelled teams - A, B, C. There are tryouts, and evaluations allow this to occur. "A" level try-out dates are posted in January.

U13W (Women) is played with levelled teams - A, B, C. There are tryouts, and evaluations allow this to occur. "A" level try-out dates are posted in January.

NOTICE: In the circumstance that a player misses evaluations or joins the club after teams are made, it is at the discretion of the Registrar to which team the player will be placed. 

Games

👟 U13 teams typically play two games per week. They are with other clubs in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council (GELC). Games may be on Saturdays, and out of town.

🥍 U13 teams participate in 1-2 tournaments (at the Coach's discretion), and may travel out of Edmonton. 

💰 U13 players are expected to participate in team fundraising, to offset tournament costs and build team camaraderie.

🥅 U13 division participates in Playoffs or Provincials.

🎽 JERSEY: You will be loaned a team jersey for Games. Jerseys will only be brought to Game days.

Equipment required:

• Helmet with a full face cage (Hockey helmet is approved for use)
• **Mouthguard (youth)
• Lacrosse Stick (youth size)
• Gloves (hockey is acceptable; however, lacrosse gloves are more flexible and make it easier for the players to handle their stick while learning)
• Shoulder pads / chest protector (can use a hockey one)
• Kidney belt (specific to the sport of lacrosse)
• Elbow pads 
• Indoor runners (need grip for slippery floors)

** Mouthguards are mandatory for U13 age division during games, as per ALA Regulation 8.05.
