New to Lacrosse This Season?

Mar. 23, 2026

Welcome to the Chaos (The Fun Kind)

So… your kid signed up for lacrosse. Amazing choice.
Slightly chaotic? Also yes.

Between the gear, the schedules, and trying to remember which bag the mouthguard is in (spoiler: it’s never the first one you check), it can feel like a lot at first.

Don’t worry. We’ve got you!

What to Expect

  • Running... lots of running!
  • Fast-paced, high-energy action
  • Kids learning as they go (and sometimes on the fly!)
  • Big wins, small wins, and “hey, they tried!” wins

Some kids jump right in. Others take a few sessions to warm up.

💡 All of it is normal. All of it counts.

🕑 Arrive Early (Future You Will Be So Grateful)

If there’s one secret to a smoother lacrosse experience… this is it.

Arriving early means:

  • No panic-dressing in the parking lot
  • Time to wrestle with equipment before practice starts
  • A more relaxed, confident kid heading onto the floor

NOTE: Each coach will give you different arrival time guidelines, but they all stem to the same fundamental... being early is best!

💡 PRO TIP: Calm kids play better. Calm parents? Even better!

💪 Let Them Try (Even If It’s… Not Perfect)

Yes, it’s faster to do it for them. No, that’s not the goal.

Encourage your player to:

  • Carry their own bag of gear
  • Attempt to put on their equipment themselves (even if it’s backwards at first)
  • Say hello, and talk to their coach
💡 Independence now = confidence later

👏 Our Coaches = Absolute Legends

Our coaches are volunteers. That means they’re giving their time, energy, and probably their voice (from yelling encouragement) to support your kids.

Best ways to support them:

  • Show up on time and ready
  • Back them up at home if they want to practice (always outside!)
  • Trust the process (even when it looks messy)
💡 REMINDER: We’re all on the same team here!

📣 Sideline Energy Matters (A LOT)

Kids hear everything. Yep… everything.

So, from the stands:

  • Cheer for effort, not just goals
  • Celebrate hustle, teamwork, and bravery
  • Keep it positive (even when the game gets wild)

After the game, try this:

“I loved watching you play.”

💡 That one sentence? Magic.

🎒 Bonus: The “Lacrosse Mom/Dad Survival Kit”

You didn’t ask… but you’ll thank us later.

  • Extra water bottle
  • Backup mouthguard (or three)
  • Snacks (for players… and you)
  • A bag for all the other bags
  • That one random item your kid suddenly “needs right now”
💡 Prepared Parents = Undefeated Parents

🌟 The Real Win

Sure, goals are great. They really are!

But what we’re really building here is:

  • Confidence
  • Friendships
  • Resilience
  • A love for the game

And maybe… just maybe… a lifelong appreciation for organized chaos.

If your kid leaves with a smile, a little more confidence, and maybe one less mouthguard than they arrived with… You’re doing it right.
