If February’s Come-Try Lacrosse sessions were any indication, this season is shaping up to be an exciting one for our club.
Over three sessions in February, we welcomed 49 athletes to the floor, including 30 players who were brand new to lacrosse. Even better, many families came back for multiple sessions — a great sign that players were having fun, building confidence, and starting to fall in love with the game.
By the time we reached our final session, we had our largest turnout of the series, with 36 players participating in a single night.
What stood out most wasn’t just the numbers — it was the enthusiasm. Players were learning to scoop ground balls, pass with teammates, shoot on net, and most importantly, experience the fast-paced excitement that makes lacrosse so unique.
One of the biggest highlights from the Come-Try Lacrosse series was the turnout from our youngest divisions.
75% of participants came from the U7, U9, and U11 age groups, showing that interest in the game is growing quickly at the grassroots level.
These early years are where players build their skills, confidence, and friendships that often last for many seasons. We LOVE high-energy kids! This is THE sport to put them in!
Seeing so many young athletes trying lacrosse for the first time was incredibly encouraging.
For many of the families who attended Come-Try, it was their first experience with the sport. What they quickly discovered is why lacrosse continues to grow every year.
Lacrosse offers:
• Fast-paced action that keeps players engaged
• A team-first environment that builds friendships
• Skill development that improves coordination and confidence
• A welcoming community for brand-new athletes
And the best part? No experience is required to start. Seriously!! Zip! Nada!
One of our biggest focuses this season is growing our female division and creating more opportunities for girls in lacrosse.
If you have a daughter, niece, or friend who might be interested in trying the sport, there is a fantastic incentive right now in Edmonton!
Wizards Lacrosse has launched a targeted initiative to grow and strengthen our female-only division. For a limited time, first-time female athletes registering in U11 • U13 • U15 • U17 (Female-Only Teams) will receive $199 OFF their registration for this season! Registration includes league play, practices, team development, and competitive game experience.
We are intentionally investing in the growth of our female division, because strong female teams don’t build themselves. This initiative is specifically designed to strengthen our girls-only pathway. Co-ed opportunities remain available, but sustainable girls-only teams require intentional growth.
If your daughter has been considering lacrosse, THIS IS YOUR SIGN. This is the moment!

If your athlete joined us at Come-Try Lacrosse, I would have met you (I was at the sign-in table)! It would be great to see you on the floor this season!
Our teams are now being finalized, and registration is currently open for U7 through U17 divisions. Many of the players who attended our February sessions have already signed up, and spots in several divisions are beginning to fill.
If your child had fun at Come-Try, the next step is simple — join a team and keep the momentum going.
We can’t wait to see these new players on the floor — learning the game, making friends, and becoming part of our lacrosse community.
